The trailing foot is the foot that is behind you while sliding out of the hack. It is the opposite of a sliding foot. It is typically the foot inside the gripper shoe.

These Left-handed shoes are for curlers who throw the stone with their left hand, with a slider on the right foot and a gripper on the left.
